When would a live pledge be charged?

The named payee would charge the full pledge when the goal is met, or at the deadline if it agrees to proceed, subject to Section 7 of the Backer Terms (opens in a new tab). You could cancel any time before the charge. A reduced scope requires at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel; if the stated conditions fail, pledges are released under those terms.

The live agreement states: “By typing your name above, you are signing this agreement electronically. This digital signature is legally equivalent to a handwritten (wet ink) signature and binds you to these Terms and the Campaign Documents.” Here, the name and date only preview that step and are not submitted or saved.

  • CitizenBacked is a platform, not a lobbying firm or charity, and no legislative or political outcome is guaranteed. My live pledge would be a charitable contribution to the named 501(c)(3) charity, restricted to the project in its Project Summary.
  • The named payee charges my card when the campaign reaches its goal, or at the deadline if it agrees to proceed, subject to the funding conditions. I may cancel before that charge.
  • I am at least 18, a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident residing in the U.S. (or an authorized signer for a U.S. organization), pledging my own funds, and not acting for a foreign person, government, or organization.
  • I meet any state-of-residence or membership restrictions shown on the campaign page. A live pledge requires a U.S.-issued card and a U.S. billing address; organizational backers must also satisfy Section 5 of the Backer Terms.
  • For a live pledge, my electronic signature has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature. This demo creates no binding agreement.
