Public policy shapes everyday life: the taxes people pay, the rules small businesses navigate, and the rights government must respect. CitizenBacked’s purpose is to help everyday Americans bring shared priorities into that conversation through professional advocacy.

We’re building a platform for citizens to find causes they believe in and bring their backing together. The planned platform connects that shared support with defined lobbying and advocacy work on federal and state issues across the United States.

How CitizenBacked is intended to work.

1. Understand the cause. A live campaign would explain its policy goal, name the organization receiving the funds, and publish its scope, funding conditions and Campaign Documents.
2. Bring backing together. Eligible backers would make conditional pledges toward a shared advocacy effort. The Backer Terms explain when pledges could be charged, changed or cancelled.
3. Fund the work. Once the applicable charging conditions are met, the named payee would charge backers directly through its own payment processor and receive the funds for the stated lobbying or advocacy purpose.

CitizenBacked is a for-profit platform. The Backer Terms specify a 5% platform fee paid by the campaign’s named payee from its receipts. The payee also bears payment-processing fees; no additional platform fee is added to a backer’s pledge. CitizenBacked does not hold backer funds.

Professional advocacy cannot guarantee a vote, a change in the law, or any other result. Before a live pledge, the full Backer Terms and the specific campaign’s documents would explain what is being funded and which conditions apply.

Where we’re starting.

Our initial focus is center-right and conservative causes, followed by bipartisan and nonpartisan priorities. The current categories introduce the issues we’re exploring:

These categories describe policy topics. They do not announce active fundraising campaigns or confirmed lobbying partnerships.

CitizenBacked is currently in prelaunch. Contributions and public cause submissions are not yet available.

You can join the free launch waitlist, explore the campaign categories, or try an example checkout. An example checkout creates no pledge, payment authorization, or binding signature. Joining the waitlist creates no account or commitment to contribute.
